Thực hiện danh sách này là một quá trình không dễ dàng, vì có rất nhiều đạo diễn mà những tác phẩm của họ tôi thực sự yêu quý và vô cùng ngưỡng mộ. Danh sách 100 phim này không hẳn là 100 phim tốt nhất theo quan điểm của tôi mà là những phim có thể chạm vào tôi và khơi gợi cảm xúc trong tôi một cách mãnh liệt nhất.
Thay vì bị cám dỗ bởi việc cho vào danh sách tất cả những tác phẩm của những đạo diễn tôi yêu thích nhất như Kurosawa, Bergman, Wenders… tôi muốn giữ cho danh sách này có cái nhìn toàn diện nhất có thể, nên tôi chọn mỗi đạo diễn một phim.
Đây chỉ là danh sách cá nhân,và điện ảnh là sự đánh giá cực kì chủ quan, nó sẽ khiến chúng ta tranh luận với nhau những câu hỏi như “Tại sao phim “dở hơi” này lại có thể nằm trong danh sách?” hay “thế những phim A của đạo diễn X đâu? Sao bạn có thể bỏ qua nó?”…
Những bộ phim này không được sắp xếp theo thứ tự đặc biệt nào hết.
